Part 1 - CCHP is in the news with "Your Health with Joan Lunden and CDC"
This summer, CCHP was asked to work together with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Joan Lunden from CBS Television Studios' TV to share the latest insights and information on diabetes, prediabetes, and much more. We participated in three videos which included a look into our Diabetes Prevention Program, a conversation with our own Dr. Mariely Fernandez, Chief Medical Officer about Juvenile Diabetes, and tips from Nurse Georjean Barcebal about how to stay healthy.
Part 1 - Get to Know CDC's National Diabetes Prevention Program
The first video is a close-up of our Diabetes Prevention Program and Healthy for Life group. The video focuses on Nurse Georjean Barcebal, RN and certified Diabetes Health Educator and our patients that attend her group. "It was such an honor to promote CCHP's free CDC National Diabetes Prevention Program, " describes Georjean. "It's a fun group where you can learn nutrition skills and understand how food and exercise affects your body! This knowledge will help you make your own healthy decisions for the rest of your life!" This proven lifestyle change program can lower your risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Watch the video to learn more about our program.
The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a 16-week lifestyle change program developed specifically to prevent type 2 diabetes. A trained lifestyle coach leads the program to help you change certain aspects of your lifestyle, like eating healthier, reducing stress, and getting more physical activity. The program also includes group support from others who share your goals and struggles.
